White Post Game Interview
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In one of their most balanced offensive outings of the year, the Davenport men's basketball team showed why they are atop the WHAC with a 96-56 victory over the University of Northwestern Ohio. Six players scored in the double digits, while the Panthers held the Racers right at their defensive average of 57.4 points per game.
The first four minutes of the contest remained close with neither team pulling away. A 3-pointer by UNOH's Jake Bolyard brought them within one, but
Damacious White and
James Nelson responded with treys of their own to lift DU's lead to 16-9.
The Panthers began to pull away on a
Mario Redmond field goal, a field goal and a 3-pointer from White extending their lead to 20-11. A Nelson field goal gave DU their largest lead of the first half at 11 points and White capped the first stanza with two free throws securing a 47-34 advantage at the break.
In the second half Davenport turned up the speed and proved to be too much for the Racers' defense. The Panthers took advantage of 13 second half turnovers from UNOH. The win was sealed on a breakaway dunk from
JaVontae Ford giving DU it's 17th win of the season and raising their league record to 7-0.
