Long Winning Streaks Collide on Wednesday as DU Travels to UNOH

Weekly Notes | Live Audio for UNOH match

LIMA, Ohio. – Two of the longest current winning streaks in the NAIA will be on the line on Wednesday night as Davenport (17-3, 4-0) travels to Northwestern Ohio (22-1, 4-0 WHAC) for a critical mid-season conference matchup. The Panthers have won their past 10 matches while the Racers, who own the most wins in the country for any program, are riding an 18-match winning streak. Live audio is being provided by the home team as the first serve is scheduled for 6:00pm.

The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference currently has four unbeaten teams in league play and only three will be standing without a blemish after Wednesday night with Davenport and UNOH hooking up in Lima. Senior Kelse Moon, the current DU Athlete of the Week, leads her team into a 6pm matchup as it is the lone match of the week for DU.

Previewing Northwestern Ohio (22-1, 4-0 WHAC)
The Racers, under the direction of fifth year head coach Kevin Kitchen, have posted the most wins in the country coming into the week and are riding an NAIA season best 18-match winning streak. Two Racers, Emily Crowell and Casey Gates have already earned WHAC Player of the Week honors as Gates leads the team with 323 kills.
Northwestern Ohio is led by a powerful offense that has posted a .259 hitting percentage through their 23 matches and has seen four players post at least 121 kills including three over 200. Lauren Maxwell leads the way in the assist category with 799 while Gates is tops with 267 digs.

The lone setback on UNOH's schedule is a four-set loss to Indiana East who is now 18-1 on the season. Since that time though, the Racers have won 18 in a row including league wins over Concordia, UM-Dearborn, Lourdes and Siena Heights. In their last outing, UNOH rallied to defeat Siena Heights in a 5-set thriller winning 15-9 in the final set.

Davenport (17-3, 4-0 WHAC)
Davenport set a new school record for consecutive wins (7) last week in a 3-0 victory over Concordia and then went to Indiana where the Panthers posted wins over Goshen, Purdue North Central and Huntington to bring that mark to 10 straight wins. Kelse Moon and Nicole Chase have led a very balanced offense for head coach Megan Lenhart as they lead a group of four players that have posted between 181 and 149 kills.  Amber Getty has led the offense so far posting a season high 548 assists and the red-shirt sophomore is just five helpers away from setting a new career mark. Freshman Sidney Rodriguez anchors the defense as the libero leads the team with 267 digs.

Live audio of the match will be provided by Northwestern Ohio – listen here.
