GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Davenport volleyball team continues to try and position themselves in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. DU will celebrate senior night on Wednesday when they host rival Aquinas College at 7:00pm. The team, which enters the week with an overall record of 23-5, will then stay in Grand Rapids at the CU Classic hosted by Cornerstone in which they will play three matches vs. teams from the Crossroads League and one match vs. Mount Mercy University.
The regular season is slowly winding down for head coach
Megan Lenhart and her team and big matches await the Lady Panthers with only two weeks to play. Davenport (23-5, 6-2 WHAC) hosts Aquinas on Wednesday night before taking on Goshen, Grace Bethel and Mount Mercy in the CU Classic on Friday and Saturday.
A Preview of Aquinas – Wednesday, 7pm at HOME – LIVE VIDEO/STATS
The Saints are under the direction of first year co-head coaches Betsy and Katie Vander Meer (mother and daughter). The two got off to a slow start as the Aquinas was just 4-11 after their first 15 matches, but the team has rebounded to win 10 of their next 11 to sit at 14-13 overall. AQ is led by sophomore outside hitter MacKenzie Kolstad who leads the team in kills and digs and is second in hitting percentage to only setter Nicci Thomas. Aquinas is currently one spot behind the Panthers in the WHAC standings at 5-3 and most recently pulled a shocker last week as they ended Northwestern Ohio's 22 match winning streak and handed the Racers their first loss of the conference season.

Davenport will then take part in the CU Classic hosted by cross-town school Cornerstone University on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers will face four opponents with one being a familiar 2012 foe as the first match of the day on Friday will be against Goshen College (Ind.) whom DU defeated in late September in Indiana.
DU will finish off their play against the Crossroads League as they also will face Bethel College and Grace College throughout the weekend. Davenport is currently 6-2 vs. teams from the league that has eight schools from Indiana and one each from Michigan and Ohio. The final opponent of the weekend will be against Mount Mercy University whom Davenport has never played before coming into the match at 3:00pm on Saturday.
Live stats will be provided for all four matches throughout the weekend
On senior night against Aquinas, DU will recognize its lone senior as
Kelse Moon is playing her final season at Davenport. Moon has been instrumental in the turn-around of the volleyball program under the direction of head coach
Megan Lenhart. Moon currently leads the Panthers in kills and is second in digs.
