Live Auio at Cornerstone
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport University will conclude the 2012 regular season this week with a pair of road contests at Lourdes and at Cornerstone. Head coach
Megan Lenhart will lead her Lady Panthers, who are riding an 11-match winning streak to Ohio on Wednesday to take on the Gray Wolves and then across town to Mol Arena to take on the Golden Eagles on Friday in the regular season finale. Davenport enters this week with an overall record of 28-5 and they are 7-2 in league action.
Davenport hopes to end the regular season on a high note this week as they play their final two league matches of the year with hopes of still claiming the school's first ever WHAC championship. DU is just one match back in the league standings as they sit behind Indiana Tech, Madonna and Northwestern Ohio as all three of those teams will play each other in the next four days.
Scouting Lourdes – Wednesday, 7pm – LIVE STATS
The Gray Wolves enter their second season in the WHAC having improved a great deal from a year ago. Davenport holds a 3-0 all-time record against Lourdes with the Panthers winning the only matchup on either's home court last season. Lourdes is riding a 5-matc h winning streak coming into the contest on Wednesday and they are led by head coach Greg Reitz who is in his third year at the helm and he looks to leading attacker Katie McKenty who has 329 kills and that is over double the next person for the team.
A look at Cornerstone – Friday, 7pm – LIVE STATS | LIVE AUDIO
Head coach Ryan Campbell and his team come into this week tied with the Panthers in the leagues standings at 7-2 overall. CU is led by the reigning WHAC Player of the Week Cailie Johnson who transferred to Cornerstone in the summer from NCAA DII Grand Valley State. Kim Weaver runs the offense for the Golden Eagles and will be one to watch out for on the attacking side as she is third on the team in total attacks.
At the conclusion of this week, the Panthers will find out their postseason fate as the WHAC Tournament starts next week with seeds 5-12 squaring off in the opening round. The final eight teams will then travel to the top seed for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals which will determine one of two NAIA National Tournament berths.
