Box Score
LIVONIA, Mich. – Davenport came up one match short in their run for a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament championship as the No. 1 seeded Crusaders of Madonna University dealt the Panthers a 3-0 loss on Saturday night. The setback ends a 14 match winning streak but DU has earned itself a berth in the upcoming NAIA National Tournament and the pairings will be announced on Monday afternoon.
The opening set was much like the second as the two teams traded blows before the host Crusaders rallied in the mid-teens to take full control and they ended up winning 25-17 and 25-20. DU did manage to get within 24-20 but a termination from the home team sent the Panthers to a two-set deficit.
For the third straight set, DU and Madonna would trade points early but a Crusader run gave the home team a 14-7 lead and it was one they would not relinquish in going on to win and sweep DU with the 25-21.
Amber Getty handed out 30 assists in the loss while
Marcey DeHaan led the offense with 10 kills and she was followed by
Nicole Chase and
Hannah Stone who chipped in with eight and seven respectively.
Kelse Moon posted a team leading 14 digs and
