Box Score YPSILANTI, Mich. - Davenport improved to 13-5 on the season with a 6-2 win over Eastern Michigan on Friday night. The Panthers fell behind early but a four goal run in the second period put Davenport ahead for good.
Phil Wendecker and
Tyler Quigley each scored two goals for the Panthers in the win. Davenport and Eastern Michigan will face-off again Saturday afternoon.
Eastern Michigan got on the board first when they found the back of the net late in the first period. In the second period, Davenport came out firing and scored the equalizer just over six minutes into the period when
Phil Wendecker was able to put away a pass from
Zack Blumke. A couple minutes later
Tyler Quigley found
Matt Ogden who was able to get his shot past the Eagles goaltender to put the Panthers ahead 2-1.
Just past the midway point in the second period Quigley and Wendecker each found the back of the net to extend the Panthers lead to 4-1. Davenport's four goal run was stopped early in the third period when the Eagles scored their second goal of the game.
Mason Bohlinger and Quigley each added a goal in the third period as the Panthers went on to win 6-2.
Matt Kaludis got the start in goal for the Panthers and improved to 4-0 in the win. Kaludis stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced.
Davenport improved their overall record to 13-5 in the win and improved to 9-2 in GLCHL play. The Panthers and Eagles will conclude the weekend series on Saturday at 3:30 PM in Ypsilanti, Mich.
