No. 8 Davenport and No. 2 Adrian Face-Off in GLCHL Showdown

The Teams: #8 Davenport (14-4-0-1/10-1-0-1) vs. #2 Adrian (16-1-1-0/11-0-1-0)

THIRD GAME: Davenport and Adrian are meeting for the third time this season and second time at Adrian on Tuesday night. There will be live audio for the game on the Davenport Athletic Network (DAN). Davenport brings in a 14-4-0-1 overall record into the weekend and is 10-1-0-1 in GLCHL play. Adrian comes in with a 16-1-1-0 overall record and an 11-0-1-0 conference record. The Panthers are coming off a weekend sweep of Eastern Michigan while Adrian is also coming off a sweep against Oakland. Davenport and Adrian will wrap-up their season series on December 4th when the Panthers host the Bulldogs.
 
PANTHERS VERSUS BULLDOGS: Davenport is 9-6 all-time against Oakland with two of their wins coming in overtime. The Panthers have struggled against the Bulldogs as of late dropping three of the last four meetings. Davenport is 5-3 against Adrian at home and 4-3 against the Bulldogs on the road. Davenport is 6-4 against Adrian when they meet in conference games.
 
EASTERN MICHIGAN RECAP: Friday, Nov. 17 – Davenport cruised to a weekend opening 6-2 win over Eastern Michigan. Phil Wendecker and Tyler Quigley each scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers. Matt Kaludis got the start in net for Davenport and improved to 4-0 in the win. He stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced. Saturday, Nov. 18 – Stephan Flood scored a goal with 2:28 remaining in the third period to give the Panthers a lead and Davenport was able to hold on for a 4-3 win. Tyler Quigley added two more goals to give him four goals and three assists on the weekend. Winston Hofer also got in on the scoring for the Panthers for his first goal of the season. In net, Phil Graveline improved to 9-5 on the season allowing three goals on 30 Eastern Michigan shots.
 
UP NEXT FOR DAVENPORT: Following a weekend off for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Panthers will return on November 29th when they take on Liberty in the final game of the “Blue/Grey Cup”. The Panthers have already clinched the inaugural cup by taking the first two games of the three game series in Liberty earlier this season.
 
WIN STREAK: The Panthers are currently on a five game winning streak which is their longest of the season. During this streak the Panthers have beaten up on some of the teams near the bottom of the conference standings having defeated Western Michigan and then swept Kent State and Eastern Michigan. During the streak Davenport has 5.2 goals and outscored their opponents 26-9.
 
ROAD SWEEP: Davenport's road sweep of Eastern Michigan was the fourth road sweep for the Panthers this season having already swept Western Michigan, No. 8 Liberty, and Kent State on the road.
 
SCOUTING ADRIAN: Senate Patton leads the Bulldogs in goals (18), assists (20), and points (38) so far this season. He is second on the team in power play goals with five. Spencer Bonomo is eight points back of Patton with 16 goals and 14 assists on the year. Robert Bodette is second in goals scored with 17 and leads the team with eight power play goals. Louis Ronayne and Matt Anderson have split time in net for the Bulldogs. Ronayne (9-0) leads the team with a 2.22 goal against average and 218 saves in 540 minutes of game time. Anderson has logged 547.6 minutes of game time and has a record of 7-1-1. He has made 194 saves this season and has a 2.63 goal against average. Both goalies have had one shutout this season. In game one against Adrian, a 4-3 overtime win for the Panthers, Davenport was able to keep Patton, Bonomo, and Bodette quiet holding them to just one goal. In the 6-2 game two loss, the trio combined for two goals and four assists against the Panthers.
 
MOVEMBER: Members of the Davenport D1 Hockey team are participating in "Movember" that encourages men to grow a moustache during the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men's health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. The fund-raising efforts are being spearheaded by graduate student and Davenport goalie Matt Sekosan. The Panthers will be hosting a Movember game on November 29th when Davenport hosts Liberty. The game is also the final game in the “Blue/Gray Series”. Davenport Movember t-shirts will be on sale during the game for $15. RANKINGS UPDATE: Davenport entered the season ranked 12th in the ACHA D1 Preseason rankings and after dropping one spot in the third rankings the Panthers have climbed their way in to the top-10 coming in at 8th this past weeks.
