The Saints are under the direction of first year head coach Joe Pechota who came to Siena Heights from Brescia University in Kentucky. The start has been a rocky one for SHU as they enter Wednesday night's matchup at 2-6 overall but they have posted both of their wins in conference play against Aquinas and Concordia. Ryan Hopson and Jamison Webster have led the Saints in scoring in six out of the eight games with Hopson tops in scoring at 12.1 points per game. Four players average at least eight points but the team is averaging just 60.2 per night while giving up over 70. SHU has played a pretty difficult schedule as they have gone up against Crossroads (MCC) foes Goshen, St. Francis and Spring Arbor.
The Panthers are likely to move up in the NAIA Top-25 Poll that will be released Tuesday evening as head coach
Burt Paddock and his team has won their past six games including a 79-67 win over UNOH and a 76-57 win over Lourdes last week. DU will be on road on Saturday afternoon when they take on WHAC newcomer Lawrence Tech in Southfield. Game time against the Blue Devils is set for 3:00pm and can be heard on the DAN.
