JP Eloff Bio
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport Rugby Player
Jean Pierre Eloff has been named the 2012 Men's College Player of the Year by Rugby Magazine. Over his first two seasons with the Panthers, Eloff has helped the team to back-to-back USA Rugby DI-AA National Championships, earning Most Valuable Player honors in both years.
Eloff, a junior from Pretoria, South Africa, has helped the Panthers to 18 straight 15s wins. In the 2012 National Tournament, JP averaged 17 points a game, scoring six tries, 11 conversions, and four penalties over four games. Eloff dominated the 2011 Nationals. He scored Davenports first 20 points and 30 of the teams 62 points in the semifinals and then scored 25 of the teams 38 points in the National Championship that year.
Eloff has also earned 15s and 7s All-American selections and is the only Davenport player in any sport to appear in the “Faces in the Crowd” section of the December 12, 2011 Sports Illustrated Issue.
