Volleyball Team Opens WHAC Play Wednesday; Hosts Tri-Match Saturday

Davenport to host Lawrence Tech in conference opener on Wednesday at 7:00pm

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Head coach Megan Lenhart and her 8-3 Lady Panthers will open Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Wednesday at 7:00pm when they host Lawrence Tech, who is one of the newest members to the league.  Davenport will then host a tri-match on Saturday as they welcome University of Saint Francis (Ind.) and Judson University (Ill.).  Game times for Saturday are 12:00 vs. the Cougars and 2:00 vs. the Eagles.

Davenport enters this week only 5 wins away from 100 all-time in the program's five plus years...currently they have 95

Scouting Lawrence Tech
Lawrence Tech is a newcomer to the conference and the school sponsors 11 WHAC sports. The Blue Devils are led by head coach Larry Wyatt who is also the club director of one of the large AAU clubs on the east side of the state - Michigan Elite. Kelsey Haener leads the BlueDevils with 97 kills and she is closely followed by Mary Armstrong with 93.

A look at Judson
Judson University is a member of the CCAC (Chicago-land Collegiate Athletic Conference) and the Eagles are ranked 6th in their conference weekly ratings. Davenport is 1-1 all-time against Judson with DU owning a 1-0 mark at home and 0-1 on a neutral court. Judson is currently 9-5 overall entering this week and have posted a 1-0 record in league play. Carissa Oelke leads the Eagles with 188 kills and she is joined above the 100 mark by Breanna Todd who has 116.

Previewing St. Francis
St. Francis (Ind.) is an opponent DU will see for the second time this season as the Panthers defeated the Cougars 3-0 at the Taylor/Indiana Wesleyan Crossover. Davenport is 2-1 all-time against St. Francis who is a member of the Crossroads League mainly situated in the state of Indiana. The Cougars have been led the duo of Carrie Clark (79 kills) and Sara Clark (78 kills) on the season while they have Caledonia native Lindsee Weis running the offense.
