Offense Unloads on UM-Dearborn in 3-0 Sweep

DEARBORN, Mich. – Davenport tied a school record for consecutive matches won tonight as they breezed past the University of Michigan at Dearborn in straight sets.  The Lady Panthers posted 25-17, 25-20 and 25-16 wins to improve to 13-3 overall and 3-0 in league action. Davenport posted a season best .398 hitting percentage and will return to the court on Wednesday, September 25 when they host Concordia University in a 7pm match.

Kelse Moon continued her outstanding play on offense as the senior led a potent Davenport attack with 12 kills while Hannah Stone and Molly Lameyer each finished with eight kills to lead DU to their best offensive output of the season. Amber Getty posted 32 assists while fellow freshman Emma Matthew was tops in digs with 14.

The host Wolves jumped out to an early lead in the opening set only to see DU fight back each time it looked as if UMD would make a serious run. With the score 14-13 in favor of Dearborn, the Panthers ran off nine consecutive points with Moon picking up three kills and Nicole Chase a pair. Amber Getty provided the strong serving during the run as DU went on to win 25-17.

Sets two and three did not feature as many long runs by either team but the Panthers were able to put together enough smaller ones to come out victorious. The final set saw Davenport post a .522 hitting percentage as the team connected on 14 kills out of 23 attempts with only a pair of errors. Four players posted three kills each including freshman Marcey DeHaan and Molly Lameyer as well as Hannah Stone and Kelse Moon.

Davenport, winners of their last six matches and the first three to open league play, will host Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday at the Student Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:00pm.

Davenport has tied a school record with their sixth straight win and will look to break it on Wednesday against Concordia…The .398 hitting percentage is the best of the season, besting a .317 against Judson on September 15…Nine of the 13 wins have come via 3-0 sweeps…Davenport has won nine of their 10 sets in league play
