Davenport Sets School Record with 7th Straight Win; Defeats Concordia 3-0

Box Score | Video Highlights

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport pushed past Concordia in straight sets on Wednesday night to pick up their seventh consecutive win to set a new school record.  The victory lifts the Panthers to 14-3 overall and 4-0  in league action as they now turn their attention to non-league foes Goshen, Huntington and Purdue North Central this weekend in Indiana.  Senior Kelse Moon led the DU attack with 11 kills while sophomore Amber Getty finished with 31 assists in the 25-20, 25-10, 25-22 win.

The volleyball program has undergone a complete turnaround under third year head coach Megan Lenhart and now the team has reached another milestone in breaking the single season record for consecutive wins with seven.  The Lady Panthers looked solid throughout the night in making quick work of the visiting Cardinals to keep their record perfect at home and improve to 14-1 over the last two seasons in the Student Center.

Davenport pushed ahead by six points in the first (13-7) only to see the Cardinals fight back with six straight points to tie the set. After a 3-0 run by DU put some distance between them and CUAA, the Panthers never let their opponent get any closer than one in the eventual 25-20 win.

Set two was dominated by Davenport from the very start as they scored the first 10 points and led by as many as 14 (23-9). Looking to close out the match in three, DU raced out to a 12-6 lead as they got kills from six different players during the run. Concordia did get within one at 17-16, but the Panthers again turned to their balanced offense to push through to the 25-22 win.

Davenport hit just .218 for the match as Hannah Stone chipped in with eight kills while Nicole Chase and Molly Lameyer each finished with six. The Davenport defense limited the Cardinals to .068 while posting six blocks and 63 digs in the three-set win.

Post-Match Quotes – Senior Nicole Chase
On posting their 7th straight win - “It's a huge confidence boost as we have such a young team. Our chemistry is great and we want to keep it going”
