Volleyball Travels to Rochester on Wednesday in Lone Match for the Week

Panthers looking at improving on 7-3 record before WHAC play starts next week

Weekly Notes | Live stats vs Rochester

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport University volleyball team has a slow week in terms of matches on the court as the Lady Panthers will only play in one on Wednesday as they travel to Rochester College for a non-league affair.  DU is currently 7-3 on the year and is coming off a 3-2 week in which their lone two losses were to #9 Indiana Wesleyan and #11 Taylor University.  Davenport will open up WHAC play next week when they host Lawrence Tech.

A look back to last week

Davenport posted a 2-2 mark at the IWU/Taylor Crossover last weekend with their two losses against #9 Indiana Wesleyan and #11 Taylor.  Nicole Chase continues to lead the Panthers offensively with 89 kills and defensively with 36 total blocks

The Panthers picked up wins over Crossroads League members Spring Arbor, Marian and St. Francis all in 3-0 sweeps. DU is now 3-2 against the league comprised of teams mostly from Indiana this fall.

A look at Rochester College (Mich.) – NAIA Member – Independent

Davenport is 4-1 all-time against Rochester, who is a member of the NAIA Independents

Rochester has played 5 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference teams thus far in 2012 and has posted a 1-4 record with their only win over Marygrove

This is Davenport's second all-time meeting at Rochester as they defeated the Warriors 3-0 back in 2010 as their other four matchups have come at DU or at neutral sites

The Rochester match is the lone one on the schedule as the DU players begin classes this week. Davenport will be back in action next Wednesday when they host Lawrence Tech in the WHAC opener.
