Men’s Basketball Resumes WHAC Play at Dearborn on Wednesday

Game Notes | Live Audio

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a pair of wins in the state of Florida to conclude their non-conference part of the 2012-13 schedule, the No. 6 ranked men's basketball team will return to conference play on Wednesday when they travel to UM-Dearborn for a matchup with the Wolves. Davenport, 13-2 on the season and 6-1 in league play, will tip at 7:30 or 20 minutes following the conclusion of the women's game.

Davenport is halfway through their 2012-13 campaign and head coach Burt Paddock has the Panthers sitting atop the league standings in hopes of winning its second straight Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season title. DU will play its last 15 games all within conference beginning with a road game at UM-Dearborn on Wednesday.

The Wolves, under second year head coach John Mackson, are just 3-12 on the season but they have seen many positives so far at the halfway point of the season. Dearborn picked up their lone conference (and last overall) win on December 5 when they defeated Marygrove College in Detroit but have since gone on to lose their last four which included just a 10-point loss to the always strong Indiana East team. Julius Porter leads a pair of Wolves in double-figure scoring as he is averaging 14.5 points per night while Eric Murphy is just behind him at 11.9.

Davenport posted two wins just before the turn of the new calendar year in the sunshine state as the Panthers defeated Goshen 91-71 and host Webber International 74-70 to lift them to 13-2 on the season. JaVontae Ford continues to lead the offensive load but freshman Dominez Burnett has lifted his season average to almost 14 points per night. DU hosts Aquinas College on Saturday at 3:00pm.
