ADRIAN, Mich. –
Dominez Burnett scored 18 points and was the only Davenport men's basketball player to reach double figures but a 60 percent shooting percentage led the Panthers to an 80-48 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference contest at Siena Heights Monday evening.
While all 12 Panthers (20-4, 13-3 WHAC) scored more than a point in the game, all of them also contributed on the glass with
Gabe VanderJagt leading the way with a season-high six. VanderJagt and
Sean Hill both lead the effort in the assists column with five each, while
Kyle Stidom posted a career-high four steals to pace the Panthers.
Both teams got off to a slow start, but Davenport got the game going with a 7-0 lead at the 16:46 mark. The Panthers got into a really big rhythm, using a 12-1 run to take a 21-8 lead with 5:43 left in the half. The Saints would slowly get back into the game, scoring a pair of 3-pointers and adding a jumper to cut the lead down to eight.
Sean Hill would close up the opening half with a 3-point shot at the buzzer to take Davenport into the locker room with a 34-19 lead.
Burnett was the hottest player on the Panther roster in the first half, scoring 14 points. VanderJagt and
DeArmond Davis both led the boards with four each. As a team, DU shot 55 percent around the floor.
The Panthers come home to the Student Center Wednesday to entertain WHAC newcomer Lawrence Tech. The men's teams will follow the women at approximately 7:30 p.m.

On setting themselves up for run at WHAC title - "We have put ourselves in a great position, even the young guys are pushing hard. We have a chance to do something special and this group of kids wants to work hard to achieve it."
