GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The middle of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) season has the Davenport Volleyball team up against the best and it starts on Wednesday when they welcome Northwestern Ohio to the Student Center for a 6 p.m. match. DU will see the Racers this week and follow with a road match at No. 4 Madonna next Wednesday as the teams have a combined 33-1 record. Davenport enters the showdown Wednesday at 15-6 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Scouting Northwestern Ohio – 13-1, 5-0 WHAC – Head coach Lora Sarich (1st season)
The Racers are under the direction of first year head coach Lora Sarich and they are off to a 13-1 start overall while they are 5-0 in the WHAC. UNOH finished fourth in the WHAC a year ago and have been led by setter Lauren Maxwell who was named First Team All-Conference as a junior in 2012. Maxwell leads the team with 510 assists and is fourth with 105 digs while posting a team high 26 service aces. Offensively, the Racers have a 1-2 punch from the outside between Chanel Cantere and Brittany Egbert who have combined for 354 of the team's 685 kills. Defensively, Ellie Comes anchors the team with 214 digs. UNOH has won nine matches in a row and suffered their only loss back on August 31 to Montana State Northern.
Around the WHAC
Madonna and Cornerstone played a 5-set thriller last week with the Crusaders posting a 15-13 win in the decider after rallying from 2-sets down to keep their record perfect at 20-0. Other than that, the matches went according to ranking with many sweeps across the board including a pair of 3-0 wins by Davenport over UM-Dearborn and Concordia.

Davenport ranks inside the Top-50 nationally in seven different team categories led by a #12 ranking for Total Kills (994) and #13 for Total Assists (907) and #23 in Total Aces (132). Individually, the Panthers are led by two different players, Amber Getty and Hannah Stone who each rank inside the Top-35. Getty is #11 in Assists (758) while Stone is #35 in Hitting % (.325)
