GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After suffering their first conference loss of the season on Wednesday, the No. 24 ranked Lady Panthers rebounded in a big way with a pair of sweeps on day one of the Panther Invitational in which they are the hosts. Davenport, now 18-7 on the year, ousted Rochester (25-16, 25-10, 25-6) before topping Huntington (25-21, 25-19, 25-8) to finish 2-0 on the day. The Panthers will face off against Grace (Ind.) at Noon on Saturday before meeting Ashford (Iowa) at 4 p.m.

In their second meeting of the season with the Warriors, Olvia DenHartgh went for 12 kills while four others finished with at least five as the DU offense racked up 40 ills on just 79 attempts. Amber Getty ran the offense with 27 assists and was tops with nine digs in the three set win.

Davenport limited the Warriors to a -.041 hitting percentage while only allowing 16 kills on the day. The Warriors were led by their setter, Sara Hayes who finished with team highs in kills (7) and assists (8).

Match 2 – Davenport 3, Huntington 0
The Foresters led for a majority of the opening set and held a 21-18 lead but Davenport recovered quickly and ended up scoring the final seven points to take a 25-21 win. Set two was back and forth until a late run by DU again gave them a commanding 2-0 lead in the match with the 25-19 win.

The momentum from the first two carried into the third as DU closed out their Crossroads League opponent with a 25-8 win.

DenHartigh and Marcey DeHaan dominated from the outside as they each finished with 10 kills while Nicole Chase went for nine in the nightcap. Three players finished with double-figure digs led by Lexie Spetoskey with 14 while Sidney Rodriguez (13) and Maddy Cassleman (11) helped the solid defensive effort.

Davenport will meet two very formidable opponents on Saturday as they take on Grace College (Ind.) at Noon in their opener and then finish the tourney with MCC-foe Ashford University (Iowa) at 4 p.m.
