No. 23 Volleyball Preps for Three Match Week

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 23 ranked Davenport Volleyball team will return to league action on Wednesday when they head to Fort Wayne to face Indiana Tech and then will host a tri-match on Saturday with WHAC foe Marygrove as well as non-league member Indiana-South Bend. DU went 4-1 last week which included a perfect record in their Panther Invitational that saw Olivia DenHartigh and Amber Getty named to the All-Tournament team.

Scouting Indiana Tech – 10-16, 4-2 WHAC – Head coach Kourtney Volkmer (2nd season)
The Warriors enter the week with a 10-16 overall record while they are 4-2 in league action. Second year head coach Kourtney Volkmer and her team got off to a slow start, going just 1-10 but the team has responded by winning nine of their last 16 matches overall. The Warriors are led by right-side hitter Suzanne taylor who has a team leading 235 kills while four others have posted at least 121. Running a 6-2 offense, the team is paced by Kelsey Fitzpatrick and Alexandra Roberts who have combined for 761 assists. Defensively, Tech is anchored by Taylor Kelso who has posted 432 digs on the season.

Scouting Marygrove – 16-10, 0-6 WHAC – Head coach Jamie Baker (2nd season)
Marygrove enters the week with an overall record of 15-10 while they have yet to win a match in league action at 0-6. Head coach Jamie Baker is in her second season and will led into action on Saturday by a 1-2 punch of Sarah Suppelsa (221 kills) amd Amelia Velez (229 kills). Nicole Kempeski runs the offense as she has posted a team leading 660 assists while Kara Kempinski holds the defense in check with 481 digs.

Scouting Indiana-South Bend – 9-9, 6-3 CCAC– Head coach Jamie Ashmore-Pott (3rd season)
The Titans and 3rd year head coach Jamie Ashmore-Pott are currently 9-9 overall and 6-3 in conference action. IUSB competes in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletics Conference (CCAC) and are closing in on the most wins for their program since Ashmore came on board in 2011. Kyrstle Troyer is the team leader on offense with 216 kills while Sierra Conklin is second with 190. IUSB has won its last five matches coming into the week, of which four were CCAC matches.
