GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In two matches that were closer than the Davenport Volleyball team had hoped for on Saturday, the No. 23 ranked Panthers picked up a pair of wins over Marygrove in WHAC action and IU-South Bend in non-conference play. The two wins lift Davenport to 23-7 on the year while they are now 7-1 in the league. DU heads to Aquinas on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Saints.

Match 1 – Davenport 3, Marygrove 1
In the three sets that Davenport won, the Panthers outscored the Mustangs 75-47 and did it behind the play of a balanced offense that saw three different players finish with 13 kills. Hannah Stone, Olivia DenHartigh and Molly Lameyer all finished with the 13 while Marcey DeHaan had eight and Nicole Chase seven. Amber Getty finished with 48 assists and added 11 digs to pick up her seventh double-double of the season while Sidney Rodriguez led the defense with 13 digs.

Davenport took full control in the opening set winning 25-12 and then followed it up with a 25-17 win in the second. The Mustangs, who have yet to win a WHAC match (now 0-8) rallied back in the third to claim a 25-22 win but the Panthers closed out their seventh conference win with a 25-15 victory in the fourth set.
