Men’s Rugby Wins Back-to-Back Games as They Defeat Western Ontario

LONDON, Ontario – The Davenport men's rugby team played in their second games in as many days. They would travel to London, Ontario, Canada to take the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. The Panthers would have balanced attack, as a different player would score each one of their six tries. DU would take their second victory in as many days by the score of 36-7. The Panthers will be in action again as the head to University Park, Pa. to take in Penn State next Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
Davenport would look to come at fast once again. They would do just that as Nick Glocke score a try three minutes into the game Brady Gent would make the conversion after the try to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead. 15 minutes later DU would come back to score another try by Roman Mares, Gent would miss the conversion and DU would hold a 12-0 lead half way through the first half.
 
The Panthers would score two tries in seven minutes to close out the first half. At the 32nd minute mark William Datuollo would score a try a for the Panthers and Gent would make his second conversion of the match. With one minute remaining in the half Gabe Sochanek would score to close out the half and Glocke would miss the conversion. DU would take a 24-0 lead into the locker room.
 
Coming out of half, the Panthers would score ten minutes into the half. Alek Mares would score the try and Gent would tack on two more points for the conversion. At the 65th minute Reece Czarnecki would score the final try of the match for the Panthers, as they would go up 36-0 on the Mustangs with 15 minutes to go in the game.
 
The Panthers would try to go for their second shutout in a row, but the Mustangs would break through to score. In the 75th minute Western Ontario would score a try followed by a successful conversion to make the score 36-7. The score would end at the same mark, as DU would pick up their second win in two days.
 
The Panthers will be back on the road next weekend as the travel out University Park, Pa. for match against Penn State. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th.
