GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Northwestern Ohio connected on 52% of their shots from the field including 10-15 from behind the arc to upset the No. 10 ranked men's basketball team 83-81 on Tuesday night. The loss is the second straight for DU as they fall to 6-2 on the year and 2-2 in league play. The Panthers are off until next Wednesday when they travel to Adrian for an 8 p.m. tip against Siena Heights.

Dominez Burnett led a group of three players to post double-digits as the sophomore finished with 25 points to go along with a career high 13 rebounds but it was not enough to help the Panthers rebound from their first loss of the season. JaVontae Ford chipped in with 21 while freshman Nick Gamble had 18 in his first career start.

The opening half was a back and forth affair with neither team holding a lead of more than three points until the visiting Racers closed out the half on a 12-5 run to lead 41-34 at the break. It marked the third straight game and fourth of their first eight overall that DU has trailed at the half.

Davenport, behind the play of Burnett and Gamble early in the second half, quick erased the lead and tied the score at 48 on a layup from Gamble with 14:10 to play. After the Racers built another slim lead, DU charged back and a three-pointer from Burnett with 8:47 off an offensive rebound from John McCloud gave the Panthers their first lead since 29-28 with 4:58 to play in the opening half.

DU took their largest lead of the second half (2) with 3:37 to play when Gamble hit a huge three-pointer but it would be their last as UNOH scored eight straight points to lead 79-73. The Racers then hit their foul shots down the stretch to preserve their first win ever over Davenport by the final score of 83-81.

UNOH shot an impressive 51.9% from the field which including 67% (10-15) from behind the arc. They did their biggest damage from the guard position as Ed Jenkins had 23 points and Johnny Elliott 24. Combined the duo finished 17-29 from the field and 7-11 from long range.

Davenport will look to rebound when they travel to Adrian next Wednesday for a game against Siena Heights.
