GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After a tough loss on Friday night the Panthers looked to rebound with a win, but the D1 hockey got off to a slow start as Grand Valley scored early in the first period. However the Panthers battled back all game to comeback from a two-goal deficit late in the third to push into overtime. In the extra period

In the first period the Panthers tried to break the ice in the early going, but they were unable to score in the first five minutes of the period. The Lakers had a power play with 14 minutes left in the period and they were able to capitalize as the puck ping-ponged in on a shot from the point.
Just after the Lakers scored the early goal the Panthers had a power play chance to try and even up the game, but the puck just bounced over the Grand Valley net minder. The Lakers took the 1-0 lead into the locker room after the first period.

Mason Bohlinger to tie the game at one. However the lead did not last long as Grand Valley was able score a goal just minutes later to take the one goal lead again. Both teams had special teams opportunities but could not cash in as the Lakers took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission.
The final stanza did not see much scoring until the closing minutes as Grand Valley scored to make it a two goal game, but the Panthers came storming back as
Mason Bohlinger scored to make it a one goal game, and
Andrew Frank followed soon after with a power play of his own to tie the game at three.
The Lakers took the lead with 1:39 left in the game to take a one goal advantage, but Frank came back once again to tie the game at four with 42 second left and send the game into overtime.

Phil Sweeney said, "It was great for us to battle all the way back. Our guys never quite battling and came back and Frank with a huge goal. Now we will enjoy break a little more because it is win over a rival and it is the last game of the semester. It gives us a little more excitement heading into next semester, we have some help coming in and coming back as well. We will ride the wave of excitement for a while until we comeback and we will be really good next semester."
