NATIONAL TOURNAMENT: On Wednesday night the ACHA announced the pairings for the National Championship in Chicago and Davenport qualified as the No. 8 seed. The Panthers will face off against No.9 Lindenwood March 2 in the second round.
PANTHERS VERSUS GOLDEN FLASHES: Davenport won all four meetings between the Panthers and Kent State this season outscoring the Golden Flashes 30-4.
WHAT IF?: If the Panthers defeat Kent State on Friday night they will face the winner of Oakland/Western Michigan on Saturday night. Davenport won all three matchups against the Stallions this season with a combined score of 22-7. The Panthers and Grizzlies split their four game series and will play a fifth game on February 22 at Paterson Ice Center for the “Good Luck Duck”.
SCOUTING KENT STATE: The Golden Flashes have had a tough season so far only registering 5 wins and being outscored 239 to 93. Entering the weekend Kent States offense has been led by Brandon McPhail who leads the team with 16 goals and 23 assists. On the defensive end Justin Wisniewski has been the leading goaltender posting a 6.35 GAA and .86 save percentage in 14 starts.
