GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The opening night of conference play saw the Davenport Volleyball team pick up a 3-0 sweep on the road at Lawrence Tech. The Panthers won a tight opening set 27-25 before cruising in sets two and three 25-13, 25-20. The victory lifts DU to 9-5 on the season overall and 1-0 in league action. Davenport will have a week off before resuming WHAC action on Wednesday, September 18 at Siena Heights. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. in Adrian.

The race for the conference's first automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament got started today as 10 teams from around the WHAC played their first league matches. Davenport picked up a convincing road win at Lawrence Tech to join five others in the win column which also included Madonna, Indiana Tech, UNOH and Siena Heights.

No stats were available at the time of the release but the DU bench had the leaders for kills to Olivia DenHartigh(10), assists to Amber Getty and service aces to Nicole Chase.

Davenport will return to the court on Wednesday, September 18 when they travel to Adrian for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Saints.
