MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Davenport rebounded from just their second loss of the season this past Thursday in a big way as they picked up yet another road win downing host Bethel College (Ind.) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. Jai Maw and TJ Ifaturoti each scored for the Panthers as they improve to 5-2-0 overall on the season with a trip to Robert Morris (Ill.) set for Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST.
After suffering a tough 5-0 defeat at the hands of the No. 6 ranked Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders, the men's soccer team took to the road again on Saturday and picked up a crucial 2-1 win over the Pilots. Davenport scored both of their goals in the second half while allowing the lone tally against them with just under two minutes to play.
After a scoreless first half that saw the Panthers accumulate five shots on net compared to four from the host Pilots, the offense really started to click in the second.
Less than two minutes into the second half, Jai Maw took a perfect pass from sophomore Omar Mansah and put it by the BC keeper to put the Panthers on top 1-0. Then in the final 10 minutes, TJ Ifaturoti scored what would turn into the game winner at the 82:16 mark. Bethel did get on the board with 1:12 remaining but the DU defense held strong to preserve the win.
DU keeper Mirza Harambasic posted four saves in the opening 45 and three more in the second, allowing just a single goal at the 88:48 mark. The win lifted Harambasic to 6-2 on the season in net.
Davenport will again play on the road in their next outing when they head to Chicago to take on Robert Morris (Ill.) on Tuesday. Kick off with the Eagles is set for 8 p.m. EST and live audio and stats will be available.
