LIVONIA, Mich. – Davenport recovered from a tough 5-set loss in the nightcap on Friday to post a pair of dominating wins over CCAC foes Illinois Tech and Roosevelt to finish the Julie Martin Memorial Classic 3-1. The Panthers defeated the Scarlet Hawks 25-18, 25-14, 25-11 in the morning match and followed with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-11 win against the Lakers in the afternoon. DU now directs their attention to league play that opens Wednesday when they travel to Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Blue Devils.

Davenport played six total sets on Saturday at the Julie Martin Memorial Classic hosted by Madonna University and the Panthers dominated in each one as they did not allow either opponent to reach 20 in any of them. DU got the day started with a sweep of Illinois Tech and finished it with a sweep of Roosevelt.

In the opener, the Panthers were led by 13 kills from Molly Lameyer while five others posted at least four of their own. Amber Getty was tops with 25 assists while Sidney Rodriguez finished with a match high 10 digs.

The afternoon match saw similar results as freshman outside hitter Olivia DenHartigh dominated from start to finish posting 13 kills on 18 attempts with no errors (a hitting percentage of .722). Lameyer was solid once again as the sophomore finished with nine more terminations to lead the team on the day with 22.

Davenport, as a team hit .330 in the opener and followed it with a .395 percentage in the afternoon as the offense was clicking on all cylinders.

DU now directs their attention to league play that opens Wednesday when they travel to Lawrence Tech for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Blue Devils.

Post-Match Notes
Davenport posted the same record as Westminster over the weekend (3-1) and finished third behind the Griffins and champions, Madonna…Molly Lameyer was named to the All-Tournament Team…DU is undefeated at 2-0 against Roosevelt all-time and now takes a 5-4 lead on Illinois Tech in the all-time series
