Scouting Madonna – 16-7, 12-3 WHAC – Head coach Noel Emenhiser (5th Year; 75-85 overall)
Fifth year head coach Noel Emenhiser has the Crusaders on the door step of claiming a WHAC men's basketball regular season championship. Madonna is currently 16-7 on the season and is 12-3 in league action after a 7-point setback to first place Cornerstone on Wednesday. Emenhiser has been led all season by the back-court duo of Bobby Naubert (19.1 points per game) and Travis Schuba (14.1). MU is averaging 78.3 points per game while giving up just over 70. As a team, the Crusaders rank No. 16 in the NAIA in Total Steals (197) and No. 25 in Scoring Defense. Individually, Naubert ranks second in the country in Total Assists (149) while Schuba is No. 3 in 3-Point FG Made (84). Before their loss to #6 Cornerstone, the Crusaders had won their previous nine games following their loss to DU back in mid-December.
Last Meeting vs. Madonna
Davenport got the Crusader monkey off their back as they avenged three losses from a year ago with an 86-80 victory in Livonia on December 14. It marked just the second win in program history at Madonna as JaVontae Ford led a group of four players in double-figures with 28 points. Dominez Burnett and Mike Betcher each had 15 while DeArmond Davis chipped in with 10. DU trailed by one at halftime (37-36) but then outscored the Crusaders by seven in the second half to seal the win. Madonna's Bobby Naubert led all scorers with 31 on the day while Donald Owend (13) and Travis Schuba (10) also helped the Crusaders.
Two-Game Skid at Student Center vs. MU
Only three opponents own more than one win inside the Student Center against Davenport and one of those is Madonna. The Crusaders picked up both of those victories during the 2012-13 season including a win in the WHAC Tournament Championship game in late February.
