GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In its first game in since entering Christmas Break, the ninth-ranked Davenport men's basketball team showed no rust as Dominez Burnett earned 25 points, JaVontae Ford had 20 and Kevin Rich and Nick Gamble each had 10 to dominate crosstown rival Aquinas 82-49 Saturday afternoon.

After a brief 2-2 tie to start the game, the Panthers (13-3, 6-2 WHAC) set up the win early with a 14-2 run led by Burnett to take a 16-4 lead with 12:54 left. Burnett had seven points during the momentum. After a Saint 3-point shot at the 12 minute mark, the Panthers ignited a 13-3 run to take a 30-10 lead four minutes later, the largest deficit in the opening half.

Davenport went into the locker room leading 44-27. Burnett went 7-for-9 in the opening period for 15 points and not too far behind him were Ford and Rich with 11 and 10, respectively. The Panthers also went into intermission shooting .613 from the field while holding the Saints (6-10-3-5 WHAC) to .360.

Like the first half, Davenport was in control of the latter period.  Although the Saints never had a sufficient run in the second half, they did cut the deficit down to 13 with 15:50 left. The largest lead the Panthers had was 33 at 2:17, when John McCloud connected the final two points of the game.

Burnett paced the Panthers in the second period with 10 points, the only student-athlete to reach double digits in the half.

The Panthers make a brief return to the DU Student Center to play host to Concordia Wednesday following the conclusion of the women's game at approximately 8 p.m.

Post-Match Notes
Davenport has won three straight against Aquinas and improves to 9-16 all-time…After making one free throw, JaVontae Ford takes sole possession of third all-time in that category with 285
