Scouting Arkansas State The Red Wolves certainly are no strangers to the Panthers, for the two used to square off every year in Mid-South Conference play. Arkansas State certainly has Davenport's number, for they hold an impressive 5-0 all-time record against the Panthers. The last time the two teams met each other was earlier this spring when the Red Wolves visited the Turf Field. Arkansas State came out with a 24-18 victory, but it was the closest match between the two teams yet.
The Panthers Even with a two-week break of action, Davenport managed to only fall one spot in the latest D1A rankings, falling from #8 to the #9 spot.
Brady Gent comes into Friday's match with his team-leading 29 points. Gent is 7-12 on conversion attempts, and has managed to reach the try-zone two times as well.
Gabe Sochanek is second on the team in total points, but leads the team in tries with three.
James Wood and his Panthers look to improve on their 3-2 schedule in a match that certainly tends to be an entertaining one.
Davenport will stay home the following week as #11 Wheeling Jesuit University visits the Turf Field on October 18. Kickoff for that game is set for 2:30 p.m.
