KENT, Ohio – The Davenport D1 hockey team looked to rebound after losing a close game to fourth ranked Adrian College on Thursday night. Davenport scored early on goal from
Jordan Simmonds, but Kent State was able to rattled off three consecutive goals en route to a 3-2 win over Davenport. The Panthers will look to split the weekend series against the Golden Flashes on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.

The Panthers scored early on the first period on a goal from
Jordan Simmonds while
Kody Polin and
Cody Walsh notched the assists on the first goal of the game just 3:40 into the game. The Golden Flashes scored two more goals in the first period to close out the scoring the period and take a 2-1 into the locker room.

Kent State used the momentum to score their third straight goal to start the second period as they took a two goal just 16 seconds into the period. Davenport started to make a comeback just seven minutes later as
Mason Bohlinger scored for the Panthers to make it a one-goal game after two period of play.

In the third period, the Panthers tried to complete the comeback, but they were unable to do so as Kent State hung on to win the game 3-2.

After the game head coach
Phil Sweeney talked about his team's performance, "We are playing well enough to win, there is no doubt about that, but we just have to finish on our scoring chances. Tonight, we had over 45 shots again and they were under 20 shots. Good teams find away to win, and it is time we start winning games."

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday night as they closeout their first three game in three day stretch against Kent State at 7:30 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
