GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In their second matchup against an NAIA Top 25 school, the No. 4 Davenport women's basketball team went into the locker room leading No. 19 Huntington by eight, but a stronger performance in the second half allowed the Panthers to claim their second win of the season with a 77-58 victory over the Foresters Friday evening.
Â
Davenport (2-0) saw another dominating performance by
Daina Grazulis as she went 10-for-15 including one 3-pointer to lead the Panthers with 21 points. She also had six rebounds, two assists and a block.
Alex Law had nine points while both
Kia Frazier and

Â
The Panthers ended up shooting 42 percent (14-for-33) in the first half but turned in a better result in the second, going 17-for-28 (61 percent). DU also won the rebounding category 40-35.
Â
Miranda Palmer carried the short-staffed Foresters (1-1) with 25 points. Kelsey Hubble and Amelia Recker both turned in 11 points to round out Huntington in double figures.
Â
Although the Foresters struck first and lead for as long as 45 seconds, DU established an 11-6 lead nearly five minutes into the contest and never looked back. A 3-pointer by Palmer with 5:29 left in the half brought the Foresters deficit to four, but the Panthers got the momentum back and built an eight-point lead at the break.
