GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D1 hockey returned home to close out a home-and-home series with Rochester College.
Mason Bohlinger scored two goals and had one assist in the 3-2 win over the Warriors. Davenport will hit the road next weekend for three game in three days starting against Adrian on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a pair of games at Kent State.
In the first period of the game, Davenport and Rochester battled back-and-forth and neither team could grab the momentum in the early in the period.
Mason Bohlinger broke the ice in the game with third goal of the season on a pass from
Chris Eckler with 8:47 left in the first period.
Clayton Brown was able to turn a side each puck that was sent his way to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the first intermission.
Davenport looked to increase their lead in the second period, but Rochester College was able to even up the score with a goal just 6:37 into the period. The Panthers tried to regain the lead, but neither team could hold offensive pressure in their opponents end, but the Warriors score scored a late goal in the period to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
The Panthers came out firing to start the third period as they scored two goals in less than a minute apart. Bohlinger tallied his second of the game to tie the game at two, and
Travis White scored his third goal of the season to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead early in the third period, and Davenport was able to hang on to win 3-2 to complete the weekend sweep.
Davenport will have a busy week next week as the play three-road games in three days starting on Thursday against Adrian College in Adrian, Mich. starting at 7 p.m.
