GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport D1 hockey team will look to back on the winning track this weekend as they host a crucial weekend series against third-ranked Ohio. Last weekend, the Panthers went 1-1-1-0 in a three game weekend. Davenport and Ohio will face each other for the first time since 2011. The Panthers and Bobcats will start the weekend series on Friday at 8:30 p.m. before they wrap up the weekend series at Patterson Ice Center on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

Ohio holds an 18-2-1-1 record on the year and enters the weekend on a nine game win streak after they completed a home sweep of against Rutgers. This will be the Bobcats first road game in over a month when they faced Iowa State on the road on November 1st to start their nine game win streak. Leading the team in scoring is Michael Harris and Joey Breslin as they each have 25 points on the season, and Harris leads the team in goals with 15 while Breslin is tied for the team lead in assists with 14. The Bobcats have allowed just 22 goals in the 22 games this season to post a goals against average just under 1.00.

The PanthersÂ
Kody Polin and
Jordan Simmonds continue to lead the way for the Panthers as each of them has tallied 12 goals thus far, and Polin leads the team with 22 points.
Chris Eckler has chipped in with 11 assists while
Luke McCarthy is the only Panther with double-digit goals this season. In goal,
Clayton Brown and
Matt Kaludis have combined for an even 500 saves and posted a .893 save percentage to go along with a 2.82 goals against average.

GLCHL OutlookÂ
After Adrian beat Davenport last weekend, the Bulldogs increased their lead in the GLCHL as they led the way with 41 points, while the Panthers dropped to fourth place tie in the conference with Oakland at 25 points. Western Michigan and Michigan-Dearborn are neck-in-neck for second place in the GLCHL with the Stallions hold a one-point lead of the Wolverines. Kent State and Eastern Michigan round out the conference in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
