Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Davenport division one hockey team defeated Ohio University 3-2 Saturday night in a hard-hitting affair that saw the Panthers earn their 12^th victory on the season. Travis White, Everett Thompson, and Cody Mathieu all recorded goals for the Panthers, who know hold a 12-8-1-3 record on the season. The Panthers will be back in action next weekend as they travel to Chicago to take on Robert Morris University Friday and Saturday night.
 
Just 1:34 into the first period, White found the back of the night after a feed from Andrew Frank and Mason Bohlinger, to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead. Thompson then scored his fifth goal of the season to send Davenport into the first break with a 2-0 lead.
 
The second period saw a tight defensive battle between both the Panthers and the Bobcats, as neither time were able to find the back of the net.
 
Cody Mathieu chipped in the game's third goal to put Davenport up 3-0, and gave the senior his first score of the season. The Bobcat offense finally found life as they answered with their first goal of the night just seconds later, and then cut the deficit to one goal as () found the back of the net to make the score 3-2. However, Davenport was able to hold on for the 3-2 victory, giving them twelve wins on the year.
 
The Panthers (12-7-1-3) will be back in action next weekend for their final weekend series of 2014, as they travel to Chicago, Ill. to take on Robert Morris University on Friday and Saturday night.
