CHICAGO, Ill. – The Davenport D1 hockey team started their final weekend series of 2014 against eighth ranked Robert Morris (Ill.). Winston Hofer scored the only goal for the Panthers, while Cody Walsh tallied the only assist for DU and Clayton Brown made 29 for the Panthers. Davenport will close out their 2014 portion of their schedule on Saturday night at 8:30 EST when they wrap up the weekend series against Robert Morris (Ill.).

The Eagles started the game out with an early goal 45 seconds into the game as they scored a goal from the top of slot. The Davenport defense and penalty kill was able to kill off three Robert Morris power plays and keep the score at 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

The second period started the same as the way as the first with Robert Morris scoring early on the period. The Panther penalty kill continued to stay strong in the second period as they were able to keep the Eagles at ease, and the Panthers kept the Eagles scoreless on the power play as they went 0-for-6 in the game. After the first two periods, Davenport trailed 2-0.

The Panthers finally broke through with a goal, as Winston Hofer was able to tally a goal with 8:15 left in the period off a feed from Cody Walsh. Robert Morris was able to seal the win with a goal late in the period to win the game 3-1.

After the game assistant coach of the Panthers, Bill McSween talked about his team's performance on Friday night "We came out slow and gave them an early goal, they controlled the game for about the first 35 minutes. We fought back in the third period, but it was too little too late. We need to work on neutral zone, as their transition game killed us tonight, and we need to start on time tomorrow."

Davenport will conclude their 2014 portion of the season on Saturday night against Robert Morris (Ill.) at 8:30 p.m. EST at the Edge Ice Arena.
