CHICAGO, Ill. – On Saturday night the Davenport D1 hockey team concluded the weekend series with Robert Morris (Ill.). Davenport was able to tally a goal in each period and Clayton Brown was able to make 22 saves, but the Panthers lost the game 7-3 to drop to 12-9-1-3 on the year. Davenport will be off for the next two weeks before they return to action on January 9, 2015 against Michigan-Dearborn.

After falling behind early in the game on Friday night, Davenport turned the tables on Saturday scoring the first goal of the game just 1:29 into the first period as Mason Bohlinger was able to knock in a rebound on the power play. However, just six minutes later, Robert Morris was able tie the game at one goal apiece and then just a few moments later the Eagles took the lead with 9:25 left in the first period. The Panthers were unable to find the equalizer late in the first period as DU trailed 2-1 heading into the first intermission.

The Eagles took a two-goal lead early in the second period, but Matt Ogden was fire the puck from the corner that deflected off an Eagle defender and into the net to pull the Panthers within one. Robert Morris closed out the second period scoring three unanswered goals in less than five minutes to take 6-2 lead into the third period.

In the third period the Eagles were able to increase lead to five goals with 10:23 left in regulation. Davenport tried to make a comeback as Jordan Simmonds was able to rifle home a one-timer from Chris Eckler to pull the Panthers within four with 4:43 left in the third period, but the Panthers were not able to comeback as they lost to the Eagles 7-3.

Davenport will be off for the next two weeks as they start the second semester on the road against Michigan-Dearborn on Friday, January 9, 2015.
