YPSILANTI, Mich. – After having a few days off for the Thanksgiving break, the Davenport D1 hockey team returned to action on Friday night against Eastern Michigan to start another three game weekend.
Kody Polin scored two goals for the Panthers, but Davenport lost in overtime, 4-3. The Panthers are now 10-5-1-3 on the season and will continue their three game weekend on Saturday night at Patterson Ice Center against Eastern Michigan at 5:30 p.m.

The Panthers got the scoring started as
Andrew Frank scored his fourth goal of the season with
Mason Bohlinger and
Travis White picking up the assists on the first goal of the game. Davenport took a two-goal lead over Eastern Michigan, as
Kody Polin tallied his first goal of the game on a feed from
Chris Eckler.

The Eagles started to claw their way back into the game as they scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at two goals apiece. Polin scored his second goal of the game to give the Panthers their second lead of the game, but Eastern Michigan answered right back to tie the game 3-3 and sent the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, the Eagles were able to score with 2:35 left to steal the game from the Panthers, and hand Davenport their first overtime loss of the season.

After the game head coach
Phil Sweeney shared his thoughts on the game, "We lost a game that we needed to win and we were not ready to play tonight. We need to take advantage of our opportunities and we need to play better the rest of the way, but we first need to focus on tomorrow."

The Panthers play their second game of the weekend as they wrap up their home-and-home series against Eastern Michigan on Saturday night at 5:30 p.m. at Patterson Ice Center.
