ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Playing their final road game of 2013-14, the No. 9 ranked men's basketball team picked up a crucial win by topping Concordia 71-54. Dominez Burnett went for a team and game high 25 points, all in the second half, to help DU improve to 22-5 overall and 15-4 in the WHAC. The Panthers return home on Saturday to host Indiana Tech at 3 p.m.

After seeing their two leading scorers, Dominez Burnett and JaVontae Ford, go scoreless in the opening 20 minutes, Davenport got 25 from Burnett in the second while Dawid Czerniawski posted a career high 14 points to lead DU to an important road win. Kevin Rich scored 16 on the night as the RS freshman nailed four 3-pointers, three in the opening half.

The first twenty minutes saw outstanding play from freshman Kevin Rich and sophomore Dawid Czerniawski as the duo combined for 25 of the Panthers' 29 points to help them post a tie game at 29-29. After falling behind 13-11, the Panthers got back to back 3-pointers from Rich to force CUAA into a timeout leading 17-13.

The lead grew to as many as nine (24-15) on a layup from Czerniawski but the Cardinals closed the half scoring 14 of the final 18 points to draw even with the ninth ranked team in the country.

Dominez Burnett, after being held scoreless in the first half, opened the second on a mission and scored nine of DU's first 13 points to help the Panthers build a 43-36 lead. The Cardinals kept the score close however and after a made three and timeout, had the margin down to just three at 45-42.

Out of the break, Davenport went on a 10-0 run highlighted by back to back triple from Rich and Burnett as well as a steal and emphatic dunk from Dominez to up their lead to 13 (55-42). The DU defense then played solid down the stretch to preserve the victory and with a Madonna loss at UM-Dearborn, move into second place alone in the WHAC  standings.

DU finished the night shooting 50.9% (69.6% in the second half) while limiting the host Cardinals to 34.6%. DU forced CUAA into 17 turnovers and held a 34-33 edge on the glass.

Davenport will return home on Saturday where they will begin a 3-game home-stand to finish the regular season. The Panthers will host Indiana Tech at 3 p.m. DU will be looking for a season sweep of the Warriors after defeating them back on January 11, 77-46.

Post-Game Notes
Dominez Burnett is now just 20 points away from 1,000 in his career as he looks to become the fastest player in school history to reach that milestone…Kevin Rich has now posted six double-figure games in his last seven appearances…Although JaVontae Ford was limited to just two points, the RS Senior had a career high four blocks
