D1A Rugby Mid-South Conference Preview

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The men's rugby team finished there fall season with a sixth place finish at the 7s National Championships in November. The Panthers will look to carry their momentum into the spring season where they will kick off the season with two exhibitions and a game against Clemson. Head coach Kruger VanBiljon will look for his team to improve on their fall 15s season as they went 4-2, but missed out the East Coast Conference postseason going 1-2 against East Coast Conference teams. The Panthers will start their spring break trip with an exhibition game against Louisville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
SPRING BREAK TRIP
 
The Panthers will start their trip as they to Louisville, Ky. to face University of Louisville's club team on Saturday at 1 p.m. after playing in Kentucky the men's rugby team will head down to South Carolina for their first regular season game of the fall season as they play Clemson. The Clemson Tigers have already started their spring season with playing the US Naval Academy and the USA Rugby U22 South team. DU will close out the trip as they travel to Marietta, Ga. to play Life University in another exhibition as they will be playing Life's graduate school squad on March 1.
 
THE PANTHERS
 
Davenport finished of their fall season with a sixth place finish at the 7s National Tournament in November. In 15s play, the Panthers went 4-2 and 1-2 against East Coast Conference teams, which resulted in them missing out on the East Coast Championship.
 
Leading the way for DU in 15s play this fall was Gabe Sochanek and Michael Houston as they both had five tries for 25 points in the six games this fall. Freshman Sondai Adjei has been a vital part to the Davenport attack as he has 24 points in the fall with two tries, four made conversions and two made penalty kicks.
 
The Panthers will start their spring break on Saturday against Louisville, before they trek down to South Carolina to play Clemson on Tuesday and will conclude the long trip with another exhibition against the Life graduate school squad on March 1.
