Scouting Aquinas – 12-13, 9-8 WHAC – Head coach Dave Hammer (11th Year)
Veteran head coach Dave Hammer and his team have won five of their last seven games but will be coming off a 12-point loss to Cornerstone this past Wednesday. Three players average in double-figures for the Saints led by Colin Kazen at 12.2 per night. Austin Semple (11.4) and Brett Pfahler (10.2) join Kazen as they help the Saints post 70.3 points per game as a team. Defensively, the Saints are allowing just 68.3 per night and are even on the board averaging 35.3.
History Against Aquinas
Aquinas holds a 16-9 edge in the all-time series thanks to a strong start that saw them win the first 13 games but since then, DU has gone 9-3. Unfortunately for the Panthers, those three setbacks have come at the Student Center as Aquinas is one of just three teams with multiple wins on DU's home court.
Close Calls for the Saints
Aquinas' record of 12-13 overall is no indication on the number of games they have been very close to winning. The Saints have lost nine games this year by 12 points or less and three of those have been by just two. AQ has also played in a pair of OT games in which they are 1-1.
Stranglehold on State of Michigan
Since coming to Davenport before the 2008-09 season, head coach
Burt Paddock has had a stranglehold on the teams from the state of Michigan. In that span, Paddock owns a record of 85-23 against teams from the Mitten including a mark of 9-4 mark against Aquinas.
