ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The seventh-ranked men's rugby team was in search of their Mid-South Conference win against fourth-ranked Lindenwood on Saturday. Brady Gent had two successful penalty kicks, while Reece Czarnecki and Sondai Adjei added tries for Davenport. The Panthers lost the game 27-16 and drop to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-South Conference. Davenport will close out their four game road swing at Life University next Saturday in Marietta, Ga.
 
Lindenwood started the game with a try to jump out to the early 5-0 lead. Brady Gent had a penalty kick attempt to try and pull the Panthers within two, but Gent was unable capitalize. A few moments later Gent had another penalty kick opportunity and he converted to make it a 5-3 game. Gent converted his second penalty kick of the game to give DU a 6-5 lead in the first half.
 
After the Panthers took the lead, the Tigers came storming back to tack on a try to regain the lead. Lindenwood tacked on two more tries and a successful penalty kick to start the second half to increase their lead to 27-6. Davenport started their comeback as Sondai Adjei scored the first try of the game for the Panthers cut the Tiger lead to 27-11. Reece Czarnecki followed up with a try of his own to make it an 11-point game. Davenport was unable to complete the comeback as Lindenwood hung on to win the game 27-16.
 
Lindenwood captured their first Mid-South Conference win to move to 1-2 in conference play and 2-2 overall. Davenport is still searching for their first conference win as they now sit a 0-2 in conference.
 
The Panthers will travel to Marietta, Ga. next Saturday for their final road game of the season against Life University at 1 p.m.
