Cheer Team Falls Short in STUNT National Championship Game


OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Davenport cheer team concluded their first season competing in STUNT in the National Championship game against Central Oklahoma. The Panthers were able to take an early lead, but the Bronchos came back to win the game 26-24. Central Oklahoma was able to defend the championship as Davenport finished in second place and concluded their season with a 5-2 record in STUNT games. The Panthers will now prepare for the NCA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla.
 
Davenport started the game out strong as they controlled possession for most of the first quarter and continued to their strong start in the second half as they took a 15-10 lead into halftime. Central Oklahoma came out strong in the second half looking to mount a comeback. The Bronchos were able to flip the momentum and was able to hold the possession for most of the second half and was able to tie the game 22-22 heading into the final routine of the fourth quarter. DU was unable to regain the momentum and lost the game 26-24.
 
The Panthers concluded their first season in STUNT with a 5-2 record and a second place finish at the national tournament. Central Oklahoma was able to defend their championship winning all three games in Oklahoma City.
 
Davenport will now switch their focus as they prepare for the NCA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. beginning on April 9.
