GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Amy Jacobson has been named the newest assistant coach of the Davenport University Cheer and STUNT teams, as announced by head coach
Celia Kiogima. Jacobson comes to DU from Aquinas College, where she served as the head coach of the cheer and STUNT programs. She began her tenure at AQ in 2014 as an Assistant Coach and served as Head Coach from 2016 until 2023.
"I am so excited to welcome Amy to the Davenport Cheer and STUNT Coaching Staff," Kiogima said. "I've known Amy as a collegiate athlete here at Davenport, as well as a fellow head cheerleading coach in the Grand Rapids area. She is in tune with what is necessary for a positive team culture, has an innate ability to connect with athletes and it is awesome to see her back in red and black. She is a phenomenal fit, and I look forward to working alongside her this season."
Prior to Aquinas, Jacobson served on Victory and NCA Staff, eventually moving up to be the Director of Victory Cheerleading. Jacobson has her bachelor's from Aquinas College in Psychology and a post-baccalaureate certificate from Davenport University. She is no stranger to DU, as she made history as an athlete on the first-ever STUNT team for the Panthers. She was on the 2013-14 cheerleading team and was a 2014 NCA National Champion.
"It's an honor to be back coaching at Davenport," Jacobson said. "As an alumni, the opportunity to now be part of the coaching staff is unbelievable. I am thankful for the support from the coaches, athletic department and most importantly, my family. I'm excited to build upon the pillars from which this program started and to learn more about the magnitude of what it is today. To the team, I am looking forward to growing with you and enjoying our journey, claws out!"
