University Park, PA. – The men's rugby team looked to turn things around after last week's defeat to Western Ontario as they visited No. 7 Penn State. The Nittany Lions struck first as they scored their first try midway through the first half, and followed it with an additional two more tries. They were able to keep Davenport from scoring any tries of their own in the contest, and blanked the Panthers in the second half to walk away with a 30-6 victory.

It was back and forth rugby in the first 30 minutes of game as Penn State had a 5-3 lead on the Panthers, until the Nittany Lions struck two tries in three minutes to go up 17-3. Sondai Adjei would account for two successful penalty kicks as Davenport went into halftime down 17-6.

Penn State continued where they left off in the first half by having their way with the Panther offense. Davenport's defense would respond by keeping the Nittany Lions try-less for the majority of the second half, but surrendered two penalty kicks without recording any points of their own.

Up 23-6, the Nittany Lions stuck a dagger in the Panther defense as they tallied their fourth try to put the game away. This was the first time Davenport was held without a try, dating back to last season in a match against Life University.

The Panthers will stay on the road next weekend as they pay a visit to Bowling Green University to take on the Falcons at 1 p.m. on Saturday. They will return home afterwards and host Arkansas State on October 10 for the much anticipated homecoming game.
