D1 Hockey Splits Weekend Series on Road against Lindenwood

Box Score ST. CHARLES, Mo. – After taking the first game of the weekend road series against Lindenwood, the Davenport D1 hockey team was unable to complete the sweep as the Lions came back on Saturday night with a 5-2 win. Kody Polin and Mason Bohlinger were the only two goal scorers for the Panthers in the game as they fall to 16-10-1-4 on the season. Davenport will step back into conference play next weekend with home-and-home series against Michigan-Dearborn on Friday and Saturday.

In another tightly contested game between Davenport and Lindenwood, the Lions were able to break the ice late in the first period as they took a 1-0 lead into the locker room. The Panthers came out strong in the second period as Kody Polin scored for Davenport off a feed from Chris Eckler. Mason Bohlinger gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead as he tipped in a shot from Winston Hofer on the power play.

After DU took their first lead of the game, the Lions were able to tie the game just moments later to tie the game 2-2 heading into the second intermission. In the final period of regulation, the Lindenwood was able to score three unanswered goals to capped off by an empty net goal to win the game 5-2.

After the game head coach Phil Sweeney gave his though on the weekend, "We were 20 minutes away from a sweep and that's all you can ask for. They outscored us in the third period. This team is playing very good hockey, and we need to get back to work as next weekend is as important as this weekend."

Davenport will now have a home-and-home series next weekend against Michigan-Dearborn with the second half of the series taking place at the Patterson Ice Center on Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.
