Luke McCarthy tipped in a shot in front from
Travis White at 5:27 of the second to cut the deficit down to 3-2. McCarthy was not done as he tied the game at 3-3 just two minutes later on a short-handed breakaway goal. In the third period, Davenport took the lead with a goal by
Aaron Beally with 4:03 remaining as McCarthy and
Cameron Dimmitt both had assists. The Panthers went down a man in the final minute and Buffalo tied it at 4-4. In the shootout,
Alex Hulford scored for DU but it was not enough in a 2-1 decision. The Panthers dominated shots on goal, 58-25, but the Bulls kept it close and sent DU to 5-0-0-1 overall.
