BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Davenport men's rugby team battled Indiana University on Saturday (Oct. 17) but could not come up with their first road win in a 18-17 setback.
Reece Czarnecki staked the Panthers to a 7-0 lead at the 10-minute mark with a conversion by
Noah Zomberg. The Hoosiers scored their first three points one minute later on a penalty kick and trailed 7-3.
Conor Schilling put DU ahead 14-3 (Zomberg conversion) in the 22nd minute of action and the Panthers held that lead going to the half. Indiana made the second half comeback in the 48th minute with a try and conversion to trail 14-10. Zomberg then connected on a penalty kick five minutes later for a 17-10 advantage. The Hoosiers again made a penalty kick four minutes later making it 17-13. The winning score was a try in the 68th minute for a 18-17 final.
