Panthers Put Out the Flames 4-1

DU scored three goals in the second period including two on the power play

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The battle between No. 5 Davenport and No. 6 Liberty was a one-sided affair on Friday night with Davenport cruising to a 4-1 road win against the Flames at LaHaye Ice Center. Davenport proved their ranking in the first two periods building a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes. The second period was particularly successful with three goals including two on the power play.

Winston Hofer scored his fourth goal of the season just 1:12 into the game with an assist from Matt Odgen. The goal set the tone for the evening as Davenport played well with the lead and the Flames became frustrated and committed several penalties in the second period. Luke McCarthy scored on the power play at 11:03 of the second from Cody Walsh and Kody Polin for his third goal of the season and second power play goal. Ogden made it 3-0 just 51 seconds later again on the power play from Walsh. His four goals of the season really broke the backs of Liberty. Aaron Beally scored his second of the season at 15:56 unassisted.

Liberty scored at 2:35 of the third on the power play but continued to rack up the penalty minutes finishing with 43. Davenport went 2-for-8 on the power play while the Flames were 1-for-6. Matt Kaludis stopped 43 shots and improved to 5-0 this season.
