The Davenport men's Division II hockey team got back to their winning ways with a sweep of Ferris State on Friday and Saturday. The Panthers won 5-0 in Big Rapids and then turned around the next night for an 8-0 win in Grand Rapids.
Donald Sund had the natural hat trick on Friday scoring at 7:33 and 12:36 of the first period and again at 10:50 of the second.
Austin Flores assisted on the first two goals and
Branden Burton assisted on the first and third goal by Sund.
Flores scored at 16:57 of the second with
Daniel Swink on the assist. Zac Bodziak finished the scoring at 11:07 of the third from
Blake Damerow and
Chris McRae. Davenport had 42 shots on goal and
Christian Thompson stopped all 23 shots he faced.
The Panthers fired a whopping 67 shots on goal on Saturday and limited the Bulldogs to 11.
Kyle McConnell scored first at 5:26 of the first period from
Jessee Game. He also finished the scoring at 13:31 of the third from Alex Stewart. Bodziak scored in the second and third. McRae had a goal and two assists. Flores collected a pair of assists. Swink finished with a goal and assist. Burton and Sund also scored for the Panthers. Damerow finished with two assists.
