GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers headed crosstown to face Cornerstone University Wednesday night as they looked to advance in the WHAC standings with their conference play winding down. DU came into the match 17-16, 9-7 and standing at fifth in the WHAC.
The Panthers would find themselves behind after three sets after the Golden Eagles took set three 25-16. DU would battle back with an extra point 27-25 win in set four and finished their five-set victory with a 15-11 win in set five.
Molly Lameyer led the DU attack all evening as she recorded a season-high 21 kills on a .340 hitting percentage.
Sydney Tracer compiled her best performance of the season with 58 assists and 14 digs.
DU took set two from Cornerstone, 25-19, after they hit .324 for the set with 17 kills. The Panthers sparked their comeback win behind defensive performances from
Morgan Torres who totaled 21 digs and the combination of
Jessica Marvin and
Ashley VanderHorst as they combined for 12 blocks.
The Panthers completed their five-set victory with 25 digs in set four and followed that with 12 digs in the final set as they advanced their overall record to 18-16 with a 10-7 mark in the WHAC.
